pianist - composer - arranger
Gorka Pastor, born in Pamplona (Navarre). He graduated in higher musical education in piano and chamber music at the Pablo Sarasate Conservatory of Pamplona with Fermín Bernetxea and Francesca Croccolino.
He has been involved in many musical projects, – one of the most distinguished has been the group THC, with whom he has performed concerts across all of Spain in festivals of renowned importance such as Heineken Jazzaldia 2006 or Rock in Río Madrid 2008. He also formed part of the duo Garufa Tango, comprising piano and voice, which evolved around the traditional tango and with whom he gave performances in Spain and Italy and also gave him the opportunity to live for a while in Buenos Aires.
In the field of dance/ballet he has collaborated with the group Konmocion, directed by Becky Siegel, in which he deploys improvisation as a constructive feature for the group. He has also collaborated with Dantzaz Konpainia, performing music in some of their choreographies in places such as the Orquesta Sinfonica de Euskadi’s residence hall and also in the Quincena Musical de Donostia of 2014.
As a performer he has performed alongside Carmelo Gómez, Pello Reparaz, Kai Etxaniz, The Cheese and Road Ensemble, Zura, Amor de Tokyo, Kenedy, Txerigans, Pablo Liquido, Carlos Lázaro, Belén Otxotorena, Koldo Pastor and David Johnstone and collaborating in numerous studio recordings. Nowadays Gorka is the keyboard perfomer of the band ZETAK (Pello Reparaz) and RAZKIN (Pedro Fernandez Razkin).
At the present time his current work focuses on musical composition, both for film and theater, highlighting his work together with the company ‘La Llave Maestra’ with whom he has been involved since their foundation. He has composed the soundtracks to a number of films in the documentary sphere, of which the most outstanding and the recipient of many prizes is “Hijos de la tierra” (winner of: Premio FICC Velo mejor documental, Premio Augusto mejor documental 19ª FC de Zaragoza, Premio al mejor documental LAO Cerdeña y Premios Goya 2016 mejor corto documental).
Since 2000 until 2017 he has been a professor of piano, harmony and improvisation at the ‘Julian Gayarre’ Music School of Noáin, combining since 2004 work as official arranger for the musical center with a highlight for his work during four years adapting cinematic music for the youth orchestra Joven Orquesta 4E.
